Research Assistant - Liver Immunobiology
CENTENARY INSTITUTE OF CANCER MEDICINE AND CELL BIOLOGY is a centre of excellence in medical research affiliated with the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney located at Camperdown.
Applications are invited from motivated individuals who wish to contribute to this exciting and growing research programme by providing support for basic and translational research investigating liver disease and in participating in the activities of Centenary.
You will work with Dr David Bowen in the development of a tissue bank and database to facilitate the study of the pathogenesis of a variety of liver diseases and the factors that determine outcome following liver transplantation.
The successful candidate will:
- have a Bachelor of Science or Biomedical degree with honours or equivalent
- be highly motivated and capable of independent work
- be able to maintain thorough records
- be team focussed
- have good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with an ability to liaise with a diverse range of people
- a demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety
- previous experience and knowledge of handling of human tissue samples would be an advantage
Desirable:
- experience in data entry and database management
- previous exposure to the clinical environment
- some background in hepatology
