Animal Technician

THE CENTENARY INSTITUTE is a centre of excellence in medical research affiliated with the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney located in the Newtown/Camperdown area.

Applications are invited from motivated individuals who want to work with laboratory rodents in a medical research environment.

Duties will include routine mouse husbandry, mouse health checks, weaning, breeding if prior experience, cage and room hygiene, cage wash, preparation of materials for sterilization, and other duties as required. This is a busy role, requiring repetitive lifting and is ideally suited to a fit, active, enthusiastic person.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 12 months experience working with laboratory rodents
  • Concern for animal welfare
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • Ability to work on their own and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to Occupation Health and Safety


Desirable:

  • Completed or current enrolment in relevant TAFE course (or equivalent)


Salary from $38,463, commensurate with experience + super + attractive salary packaging (pro rata for less than 5 days / week).
