Research Officer - Liver Immunobiology

THE CENTENARY INSTITUTE is a centre of excellence in medical research affiliated with the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney located at Camperdown, and co-located with the Australian National Liver Transplantation Unit

 

Applications are invited from motivated individuals who wish to contribute to this exciting and growing research programme by providing support for basic and translational research investigating liver disease and in participating in the activities of Centenary.

 

You will work with Dr David Bowen investigating the role the immune response to the hepatitis C virus plays in the outcome of liver transplantation.

 

Your main role will be to undertake research experiments with a component of laboratory support, including supervision of junior staff and students while participating in the activities of the Institute.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD in immunology or immunovirology
  • Experience in a variety of immunological techniques, handling of infectious agents and cell culture
  • A demonstrated publication record
  • Ability to write journal articles, grant applications and keep meticulous notes
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with an ability to liaise with a diverse range of people
  • A strong team focus
  • A demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety 

 

Desirable

  • Experience in multiparameter flow cytometry
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise junior staff and students

 

Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Centenary also offers attractive salary packaging benefits.
