Join Professor Sir Gustav Nossal at the Centenary Institute Year in Review
Sir Gustav Nossal AC CBE will be giving a special address at the Centenary Institute's Annual General Meeting on Thursday 9 September. The Centenary Institute will also review the past year by highlighting the major achievements of its medical researchers.
Centenary Institute Executive Director Professor Mathew Vadas said, "This event will be of interest to both the medical and general community as our inspiring presenters will provide an interesting mix of the contributions made by international science as well as local research at the Centenary Institute."
Sir Gustav has been a major force in shaping biomedical research in Australia and in enhancing the reputation of Australian researchers internationally. His own research is in fundamental immunology, and he has written five books and numerous scientific articles in this and related fields. He was Knighted in 1977, made Companion of the Order of Australia in 1989 and appointed Australian of the Year in 2000. In addition to his accolades in Australia, he has received numerous honours from around the world.
In addition to Sir Gustav's address, two leading Centenary Institute researchers will talk about their own research, which has been both nationally and internationally recognised. The evening will close with a presentation of awards to our scientists who have paved the way in helping all Australians live longer, healthier lives.
