Kirribilli local goes the extra mile in City2Surf to raise funds
Kirribilli resident and dermatology registrar Dr Stephanie Arnold was the highest fundraiser in the Centenary Institute City2Surf fundraising team. Dr Arnold raised an incredible $3,674.40 from family and friends pledging to donate if she finished the gruelling 14km course. These much-needed funds will help the Centenary Institute fund life-saving research into cancer, cardiovascular disease and infectious diseases.
While working at the Centenary Institute as a researcher, Dr Arnold was motivated to join their City2Surf fundraising team as she was able to see first-hand how the money would be used in the fight against diseases that affect the lives of so many Australians.
“The Centenary Institute is conducting some amazing medical research that could improve the health and lives of all our friends and family. I thought it would be great to help the Centenary Institute raise funds by simply joining their City2Surf team and asking people to make a donation,” said Dr Arnold.
“I was touched by the overwhelming generosity of my family and friends. Everyone was keen to support me and it was their kind donations that helped me raise more than $3,500 for this great cause,” added Dr Arnold.
Centenary Institute Executive Director Professor Mathew Vadas said: “The Centenary Institute is incredibly grateful for the donations we get from dedicated individuals like Stephanie and her generous supporters. This money will help us continue our work to advance prevention, diagnosis and treatment options for diseases and conditions that affect so many of us.”
