People who have included us in their Will
Allan
Experiencing the shocking effects of cancer on loved ones, Allan wanted to help protect future generations from this devastating disease by including a gift to the Centenary Institute in his Will.
“Cancer can hit people at any time and it affects people from all walks of life. My mother died when she was just 49. She had ovarian cancer that was treated but the cancer came back as a brain tumour and she died a year later. My father died of prostate cancer. I also had a number of aunts, uncles and a few friends die from cancer – some people were in their 40s and one young chap was just 25 years old.
"I think leaving money to research is the only way we will develop a better understanding of disease and hopefully protect future generations. Your money goes further when you support medical research.”
Carmel & Gareth
“We’ve been supporting the Centenary Institute for many years, so we see leaving a bequest as simply a continuation of what We’ve been doing throughout our lives. We have two children and wanted to do something good for them long term, as well as for our grandchildren. Making the bequest was an easy thing to do. We just spoke to our solicitor and he helped us with everything."
Gareth was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was 28 years old and told I had six months to live. Luckily, the tumour wasn’t malignant.
"As a cancer survivor, I strongly believe that research to eradicate cancer - or at least improve the mortality rate from cancer - is very important. Unfortunately, these days it seems that everybody is touched by cancer at some stage in their life."
Steve
"My bequest ensures that people in the future either won’t get diseases or can be cured of them. It’s wonderful to think that when I’m long gone and forgotten I’m still able to help the Institute to continue its research.
I’m really impressed with the Centenary Institute and its growth over the years – it‘s really amazing. Their magnificent work covers such broad areas and is constantly achieving.
"If you are thinking about leaving a bequest to Centenary Institute, come and have a look at the work they do."
