Medical Research Seminar: Transcriptional bursting

02/12/2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Medical Research Seminar: Transcriptional bursting induces cell-to-cell heterogeneity in gene expression

Dr Hiroshi Ochiai

Lecturer, Graduate School of Intergrated Science for Life, Hiroshima University

The Ochiai Laboratory is working on the development of new experiments and technologies that combine genome editing, cell biology, and live-cell imaging technologies to measure transcriptional dynamics and to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of gene expression heterogeneity in mouse embryonic stem cells.

Hiroshi Ochiai worked under Prof. Takashi Yamamoto on the development of genome editing technology and received a doctorate from Hiroshima University in 2011. He then served as a postdoctoral fellow at Dr. Shinya Matsuura’s lab at Hiroshima University. Ochiai has been appointed at the Hiroshima University scince April 2013. Ochiai is also a recipient of JSPS fellowships DC1 (Selection Year 2009), PD (Selection Year 2011) awarded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and a PRESTO Researchership awarded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (2015-2019).
