Hello I’m Professor Hersey and I am the Head of the Melanoma Oncology and Immunology Program at Centenary.
I have been treating melanoma patients and researching ‘Australia’s cancer’ for decades. Business leaders have said, success is finding a need and then filling it. I have tried to do the same thing in melanoma. The need was great and not being filled by current therapies. As a scientist today, you must be able to “rise to challenges, to think laterally and maintain focus.”
Throughout my long career as a clinician and researcher, the most important lesson I have learnt and now pass on to others is, As a researcher, to be committed and have thinking time and as a clinician, to listen to patients and have responsibility for them.
My work has been a true passion for me, but of course my family and hobbies are also important; sailing, swimming and dining among some of the things I like to do as well as spending time with his family.
Read all about me here.
It’s nice to meet you. Would you like to ask me a question?
