You can help Jinx Moore change the future

Your support will build our research capacity and help save more lives.

DONATE

When she was young, Jinx Moore was always asking big questions.

As a school leaver, Jinx’s natural curiosity and passion for science led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BSc). Now as a medical researcher, she’s using her passion for science to help find answers about silicosis – one of the most deadly and debilitating diseases affecting society today. Centenary is a not-for-profit organisation and without your kindness, we cannot give researchers like Jinx all the opportunities they need to change the future. We cannot do it without you.

Please support our future research leaders.

Jinx’s Current Project

Jinx’s current project is focused on silicosis, a lung disease caused by inhaling crystalline silica (a type of rock dust) repeatedly. She’s particularly interested how silica exposure impacts those genes that can cause inflammation, immune response and fibrosis (scar tissue buildup) in the lungs.

“Silicosis is not well understood. Early detection remains a challenge for people living with the disease, as it can only be diagnosed once it becomes visible on an X-ray. This means many early cases where there could be a window of opportunity for intervention with future anti-fibrosis drugs are overlooked. Our research team comprehensively seeks to understand early disease. We hope to find markers for diagnosis beyond radiography, targets for drugs, and pathways to help us understand how the disease develops in the first place”.

Your support will build our research capacity and help save more lives.

Scientists like Jinx are key to important discoveries that will improve the long- term health of all Australians. Too many Australian families are losing loved ones to devastating diseases. Silicosis is just one of many diseases we seek to understand at the Centenary Institute. With the help of compassionate supporters like you, our researchers are making discoveries that lay the foundations for a humanity without disease. Your special gift of today represents more than a donation: it is an investment in the future health and happiness of all Australian families.

  • Support New Researchers

Your gift will help fund scholarship programs that will bring more early career researchers like Jinx to Centenary.
  • Support New Ideas

Your gift will give our young researchers access to clinical experts and direct exposure to patient care.
  • Support the future

Your gift will ensure we keep talented young researchers right here in Australia.

As part of our dedicated research team, Jinx is using her passion for science to play her part.

“Science allows us to find new and amazing things about this complex world in which we live. Supporting the Centenary Institute is an investment in innovation, progress, and positive change. We want to see our work improve everyone’s lives, and your donation can help us achieve this goal. I hope you can help, with a donation either big or small. Every dollar invested in research makes an impact!”
