City2Surf Superstars
A spot of hail momentarily lingered early on Sunday morning in Sydney, but it couldn’t keep the thousands of runners away who turned out in force to hit the pavement for this year’s City2Surf.
With ominous grey clouds soon clearing to reveal bright blue skies, the conditions were near perfect for our competitors – including our very own Team Centenary.
Centenary scientist Claudio Counoupas was the first team member to enjoy some well-deserved cold oranges, crossing the finish line in an impressive 63 minutes!
Special thanks to our other team members, Honours Student Erica Stewart, YCF Committee Member Kate Halsted, brothers Phillip and John Walker, and the amazing Emily Wheatley, who alone has raised more than $3,700!
Together, Team Centenary and its corporate supporter Shaw & Partners have raised close to $9,000 – just short of our $10,000 goal!
While the race may be over, you can still donate to Centenary’s cause on our fundraising page.
Every donation – no matter how big or small – makes such a difference to Centenary’s quest to better understand disease, in order to find cures!
