Johansen Lab

The Johansen laboratory seeks to investigate how bacterial infections like Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM), and viral infections like COVID-19 and Influenza, interact with the host immune response and cause disease outcomes. By furthering our understanding of what happens and why, this will help us to develop tailored therapies that can fight these infections.

We are also exploring how risk factors like sex, age and underlying chronic respiratory disease can lead to worsened outcomes, and finding ways that allow us to overcome these risk factors to provide improved outcomes for patients.
