When Art Meets Science returns to Government House
The Centenary Institute’s When Art Meets Science exhibition returned to Government House Sydney this year, as part of the Sydney Open program, giving visitors the opportunity to explore one of the city’s most iconic buildings while discovering the visual side of medical research.
At the event, over 2,000 visitors viewed striking scientific images captured by Centenary researchers, offering a closer look at the discoveries and investigations taking place across the Institute’s laboratories.
The exhibition featured images from Centenary’s ongoing research into human health, revealing intricate cellular structures and biological processes that researchers study to better understand disease and develop new treatments.
Featured images included melanoma cells preparing to spread through the body, laboratory-grown heart cells used to investigate the genetic causes of inherited heart disease and microscopic views of liver cancer that may help researchers better understand how the disease develops.
The images were previously showcased at the Centenary Institute’s annual Image Prize event held in July 2026.
By sharing these images, the Institute hopes to provide the public a new perspective on medical research and the science that underpins efforts to improve human health and save lives.
